Sota the Grey
Stereotypical Wizard Man
Sota the Grey is widely regarded as one of the most famous spellcasters in Σu'ryxia's history. He lived around 18,000 years ago during the First Age of Dragons, millennia before modern humans arrived on the continent. He was thought to be a 10th level spellcaster, who harnessed the ancient magic of the Primordials to help restore order to Avaløn and bring the world into a new age. Sota is most famous for his role in the Battle of Banrich Valley against the Dragon Tyrant Dreiszelhein.
As part of a group of ancient wizards, he created a great network of portals in modern day Everen that could be used to banish the Dragon Tyrants across the 24 Realms. However, when Dreiszelhein learned of their plans, he flew down from Mount Gartavella to destroy the wizards and killed all but one: Sota the Grey. As the oldest and most resilient of the mages, he resisted the attacks of the dragon and began channelling his arcana into the portals. He stood his ground as the dragon breathed its great fire, but it didn't harm him. The dragon was powerless to stop the great wizard, and as he uttered the final words of his incantation, the valley erupted with brilliant light, and the dragon was no more, forever banished to another realm. Skalds would sing the song of Sota for centuries to come, and when the area was repopulated again by humans after they rediscovered Σu'ryxia, the city that was built on the foundations was named after the great wizard.
