Aurorus
The Dawn Phoenix
During the Founding, the Primordial Dendar the Night Serpent consumed the sun. Pelor was left powerless, and in an act of desperation, he turned to a powerful night hag, Priscilla Deadwrangle, for aid. Priscilla fused an imprisoned primordial phoenix with the remnants of Pelor's power, granting it with immortality and turning it into an entity of divine might, a symbol of rebirth, and a protector of the sun. Aurorus, as it was renamed, was the companion and mount of Pelor for the remainder of the war.
During the Divergence, Aurorus chose to remain watching over the Material Plane and took residence on the isolated peak of Mount Sûte. It wasn't long before the local Makum tribe built a colony based around this creature to protect its mountain, build temples in its honor, and offer it gifts. For centuries, in return, it has offered the tribe, as well as any devoted pilgrims who make the trip to its perch, divine power and lengthened lifespans.
Appearance. Aurorus is depicted as a phoenix with brightly colored wings ranging from orange, red, and violet, with each feather moving in a flaming motion. He has a black, sword-like beak and sharp talons. His eyes shine bright white, and his feathered head sits atop an outstretched neck akin to that of a mandarin duck.
