Umberlee
The Bitch Queen
Most are not entirely sure where to place Umberlee in the hierarchy of idols; many see her as Melora's wicked daughter and a minor goddess of the sea, whereas others believe she is a demon lord or adjacent entity ruling over the monstrous creatures of the depths. One thing is certain; Umberlee is universally feared in most pockets of seafaring culture in Avalor, especially by the pirates of the Verdiain Isles. She commands the harsh waves of the ocean and lays claim to souls lost at sea.
Each sailor has his own way of paying tribute to this vain and petty entity; buccaneers toss a portion of their plunder into the sea to appease her, captains see her priests as a good omen and welcome them aboard their ships with open arms, and retired sailors warn ambitious swashbucklers of the horrid fate they may face in the "Bitch Queen's Locker" should their ships sink to the depths. In return for loyalty and a promise to keep the sea free from the tyrannical control of entities such as Takaroa, Umberlee rewards her worshipers with divine power and gifts her Chosen the legendary cutlass, Drowning Death.
Appearance. Umberlee appears before her patrons as a gorgeous female with a blue-green torso garbed in shells and a mauve cloak rising out from the waves with. She is frequently shown with taloned hands, elbow fins, eyes of pale pearly death, and beautiful, flowing hair of kelp.
