Temple of Athia
The Temple of Athia is an impressive work of masonry and a massive complex from which the Athians of Light, a subgroup of the Order of Light, operates their network of devotees and magicians. Many religious ceremonies tied to worshipping the First Pantheon, as well as magical rituals connected to the Light domain, are done here. It also boasts a sizable library for its scholars and a hospital where it treats local folk while teaching new Clerics in a safe environment.
History
Work began on the temple in 172, while the Olaran were preparing for their great entrance into the world. It was originally intended to be a great library that would store massive amounts of knowledge and literature for the entire world to enjoy. The Olarans envisioned it as a grand form of proof that they had reformed from their violent past. For much of the next decade they poured their greatest architects and many of their resources into the project. However, like many things of the time it went awry when the Cyanni War broke out. Though the Olaran were uninvolved in the war until they finally revealed themselves near the end, its battles still affected them in the form of Apogees created from the bodies of fallen soldiers far away. Many resources had to be diverted to defend against these attacks. Construction stalled until finally, when they joined the war, it halted indefinitely.
There the library remained an empty shell, uncompleted for decades after the war because of the worldwide economic turmoil. It became a derelict symbol of hope from a golden age long gone. Without any of the resources to finish the structure, the city was willing to part with it when the Athians of Light showed interest. They purchased the building in 217 and finished it in 232. It was completely re-purposed into a temple, though it still has a massive library inside it.
