Magic of Order

The magical Phala of order is about prevention of environmental change. Practitioners of this Phala will create areas where certain effect no longer happen. For example, by casting an order spell on a campfire, an order mage can put it in a stasis, allowing the campfire to keep burning while not consuming any wood. Alternatively, a spell could be cast concerning the temperature, preventing it from getting colder after the campfire goes out. Ren Hindley famously used order magic to suspend the rain, wind and lightning in a storm around an entire ship, resulting in the ship surviving the storm.   When an order spell is cast, whatever parameters are affected by the spell are constant for the duration of the spell in its entire field of effect, both of which, along with duration, affect the amount of Magic required as well as the difficulty of casting the spell. The average magic-user can create a spell that lasts for up to an hour with a radius of about three or four meters changing one aspect of the environment, though afterwards, the average magic-user will need to rest and not use any other magic during the day, lest they contract Magical exhaustion.   After the spell ends, the area will change as normal. During the spell, however, the effects will vary based on the magical nature of the affected qualities. While non-magical effects will stop at the edge of the area, such as rain gathering at the edge and flowing off to the ground surrounding it, magical effects will go through, but not affect anything while in the area. An example of this is the magical fire of a dragon. When a dragon uses its fire on an area under the effect of an order spell that includes temperature and fire, the dragon fire will seemingly stop at the edge of the field but will continue at the other side of the field.
