Sly Flourish's 'Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master'

Strong Start

Potential Scenes

  • reading the letter
  • Mama Mudcradle telling them that she needs an Artefact called 'Blight's Favour' if she's to have a chance at reversing Laleh's fate. It is kept deep in the Temple of Seh'vi/Eyar in Triham.

Tari in The Scribe

  • at first slow going. You don't stick out like a sore thumb, but people here to seem to come from either money or good standing at least
  • what do you do over several hours so it doesn't seem to strange, that you stick around for so long and without others?
  • do you try to mingle, or keep to yourself?

  • business picks up some more around noon, and then again starting in the early evening.
  • sth that piques your interest: in the evening you see a gnome sitting alone for a while. She seems impatient, and while her clothing is not shabby in any way shape or form, it seems much more practical and less fancy than most of the other patrons of The Scribe. Honestly, it isn't that dissimilar to your attire.
  • Since you've been keeping a slight eye on her, you also see her taking off her top layer, as its getting warm - revealing an intricate tattoo of cherry branches and petals covering her arm and disappearing under her now short sleeves.
  • some time into her wait a young human male in his late teens or early twenties sits down at her table. Contrary to her he wears very fancy clothing. His arms seem a little bit long for his body, but then again, he doesn't seem to have entirely grown into his features yet.
  • The two get into a seemingly heated debate, and you manage to catch some of what they're talking about (roll. Low roll: since you've kept an ear out for the name, you catch that the young man is telling her something about Aranmarir. You're not entirely sure, but it sounds like he's pleased with something, but is reprimanding the gnome woman nontheless. // medium roll: since you've kept an ear out for the name, you catch that the young man is telling her something about Aranmarir. It seems like he's pleased with how their networking is progressing, and that he's optimistic that their settling in Thaeden should continue without a hitch. He is, though, not best pleased with how Cherry if faring in her task, as he's still waiting on some of the shipments she's responsible for. // High roll:

Secrets & Clues

  1. Netherbane has been stolen - not by the Sorcerer King, but by cultists
  2. some cultists are networking with king's people (not showing their hand though)
  3. the mountains are home to bandits, Bulettes and other dangerous creatures
  4. Cherry has been running interference on some level.
  5. some of the (known) Children of Dread people have left the city. some seem to have just disappeared, some set off officially on journeys, some seem to have taken all their things with them (they went to the corrupted city in Thaeden)

Fantastic Locations

  • Emerald Graves - parts of the rough mountain ground seem to be made of pure emerald. They are spaced evenly, almost like plots in a cemetery. If one looks closely it even looks as if there are people encased in them.
  • Whispering Grove - a grove with dark grey trees, ash-green leaves, taste of ash and mint in the air. There is always a slight breeze rustling through the canopy, and the ever constant sound of whispers.
  • Gentle Abyss - a pitch black crevasse. Even where the lights should still hit, there is nothing to see. The closer one gets, the more the feeling of warmth and comfort emits from it. It's not uncommon to smell and hear things reminding one of home and family.

Important NPCs

  • Karri & Sprinter
  • Ceerr, male Aarakocra, messenger from the Scarlet Ash monestary 'Yasragi' (is himself one of 'The Students'. Less militant anti-magic, more anti-SK)
  • Elenwin, Mathea & Aberthol
  • Imlil
  • Tassyl Deldrur
Cult Members
  • Aranmarir, dark red tiefling
  • Hanvir Flintkith, cult higher up, male dwarf, russet hair, grey streaks through it. Surprisingly delicate hands for a dwarf. Values reputation, is tempted by drama. There's a warrant out for his arrest.
  • Ardeya Matine, cult member, female human. Heart shaped face, dark brown hair. Values loyalty, is tempted by pettiness. Wants to live up to her families expectations. She's only dating her romantic partner for money
  • Isana "Cherry" Glowhollow. Female gnome. Has a tattoo of a cherrytree through the seasons covering her whole back and arms. Values patriotism, is tempted by praise. Lies about her past to sound more exciting. Is capable and brutal.
  • Garth Wolston, human male. Late teens. Speaks in a false, quick falsetto. Has pretty long arms. Values his independance, is tempted by sweets. Wants to fix a problem that the government is neglecting. Is in love with (someone forbidden). Is passionate. Is an artisan (weaver).
