- Smugglers and the cult have been at odds for a while
- fishers and sailors have been apprehensive about going out onto the sea because of strange happenings. It's only gotten worse since the wave of abberations hit the beach
- Yuan-ti are alive and some of the few who know how to banish Mother Dread, but they have sworn to never return to the outside world, terrified of fate repeating
