Session 4 - Carnivorous Beds and Rusty Armor

With the group reunited you were asked to check on the whereabouts of Crazy Sven as he had been missing for several days. You learned that following the massacre of the Rat Boys he had been spending his loot all over town. Upon further investigation you discovered that he, along with an unfortunate woman from a local brothel, had been devoured by a mimic which you slew in his home. You learned that it may have been placed there by a man in blue robes with a small mustache. Inquiries at the Mages Guild and elsewhere failed to turn up any leads on the blue robed figure.   You also found the cypher key for the message recovered at the Black Circle Club and learned of their plans to open a second rift in the sewers at the conjunction of two ley lines in they city. In your visit to the Mages Guild, you also learned of a missing member who may have been kidnapped by the Black Circle to locate the conjunction. Finally, you also learned a bit more about the mysterious mirror found in the Black Circles previous lair. Apparently, it was controlled from another location hundreds of miles away and could be used as a communication device.   At the Water Temple you learned a bit about the storied history of Manshaka’s sewers and ventured forth in search of the Black Circle. The group battled the filth and stench, slaying a number of the sewer’s denizens, including some giant crabs, several inquisitive rust monsters (with the assistance of a hungry carrion crawler) and finally the deadly carrion crawler itself. You also met a mushroom addled vagrant happy to live with his “friends” in the sewer. Following the running battle, the group crawled through a tight passage and found what was hopefully the last of the Black Circle left in the city. The party faced a harrowing battle that at one point saw Garrak standing alone against the foe as Roggo was nearly slain and Akir and Mythdanor were rendered immobile. As all seemed lost the group rallied and defeated the foe.   In the chamber you destroyed all signs of the Circle’s dark ritual and recovered the embroidered belt from what appeared to be the missing mage, sacrificed to move toward opening a new rift.   Filthy, beaten, battered, exhausted, and yet victorious the heroes emerged from the sewer and trudged towards the Bearded Mermaid.   Nearly at the doorway, two troops of imperial legions leapt from alleys on each side of you. Surrounded by 20 hardened veterans, an officious man in fine dress stepped forward and addressed you.   “You need to speak to the Pasha”
