The Southern Air Temple
The Southern Air Temple was the third to be completed, and celebrates the patronage of Chu Turak, the vermillion bird of the south. It was the original home of Avatar Aang, and the least destroyed of the four original temples during the air genocide. It is located in the Patola Mountain Range among its highest peaks and was originally one of the two temples to house only male airbenders, the other being the Northern Air Temple. The massive temple featured a sanctuary in which statues of past Avatars were arranged. The Northern Temple also held air ball tournaments every 4 years, and was famous for its cakes.
The patron spirit of the Southern Temple is Chu Turak the vermillion bird of the south. Monks that call the Southern Temple home tend to be energetic and enthusiastic in all they do, living in the moment, rather than the future. They have little patience for waiting for openings and instead actively seek out opportunity both in battle and in life.
