The United Republic of Nations is created as a 5th nation to foster every bender and person displaced during the war.

Though many were against the formation of the 5th nation, ultimately Avatar Aang was able to persuade the Earth and fire nation to let a new nation arise. Thus the United Republic of Nations was born.
