Kharjhata Candle
These black/grey candles, which are typically made from Varnian Bone Rat tallow, are used by Kharjhatis as sacramentals. It is beleived by the people of Varn that burning one of these candels as an act of defrence towards their god, Kharjha, will either bring them favor in some upcoming task they must perform, help absolve them of some minor sin (of which the Varnians have very different standards for than what most would consider a sin), or to otherwise call attention to their prayer of varius intent. Kharjhatis beleive that the burning of this once living animal product lights not only a flame in the phyisical realm, but also one that can be seen by the god of Varn in the spirtual realm as well, calling his attention to the user's need. As they do not see Kharjha as a benevoelent being like the gods of many other planets, but as more of a destroyer of vengul spirit, Varnians beilve more that the burning of a candle is warding off ill fortune that their god is bestowing on them than that the attention of their god will cause him to aid them. This reflects in the way the act about their god, defering to him not with the revernce of a great being that deserves to be served, but as a powerful being that will bring you a most dishonorable death should you displease him too greatly. As such, they do not perform acts of worship so much as sacrifies to appease their dark god.
Manufacturing process
The fat, oils, bones, and blood of Varnian Bone Rats are mixed with solvents and ground into a past which is then forced through a circular hole, creating a long cylinder which is then cut to proper length. Last, the stiff hair from the rat is wound up into a twine wick that is stuck into the center of the cylinder. As these candles are made nearly exclusively out of biological matter, they can even be consumed as emergency rations, as long as one is okay with the non-insignificant toxcicity of the things.
