Niamari (N-eye-uh-mar-ee)
Basic Information
Anatomy
Niamari are six legged and two armed bug-like creatures, their most defining trait being that each Niamari is it’s own hive mind ecosystem consisting of many different separate entities, called Öris, all sharing one mind.
Genetics and Reproduction
Niamari collectives posses members of both gender, and are thus capable of self reproduction. A female Öri then carries the 10-30 eggs that are produced on it’s body for around a month, when they then hatch.
Growth Rate & Stages
Once Niamari eggs hatch, their minds are instantly linked with the parent hive mind. If the brain Öri is not mentally strong enough to support more body Öris in the hive mind, the new excess Öris die almost instantly from the psychic strain. Sometimes, a brand new brain Öri is produced (around a 1/100 chance), containing it’s own intelligence, thus producing a new independent Niamari hive mind. All of the other Öris born with this new brain Öri are already linked to it, thus enabling the Niamari to grow in size and number. Once any Öri is born, they grow very rapidly, reaching full adulthood within only a few months.
Behaviour
Niamari Öris are linked into a single entity by the not fully understood combination of a mysterious psychic link and the transmission of complicated pheromones which are perceived through the Öri’s very acute sensory glands in their thoraxes.
