Utility

plasma bolts are used extensively for weapons and mining capabilities... the crystals can be made into bullets or used to refract powerful lasers

Manufacturing

plasma bullets are first milled into the shape that is required. next small microscopic swirling holes are drilled through the center of the round into a central core hole... when the round is fired and friction is created air flows along the surface of the round and ignites the crystal and also flows through the holes and ignites the inside of the round which creates pressure withing the central vent which is pushed out creating more thrust.

Complexity

the act of igniting a plasma bolt is quite simple really... the friction of the bullet or crystal passing through matter is what ignites the crystal into temperatures higher than 11,500° almost instantly... able to create burning holes through many substance.

Discovery

The arkkanite crystals have been utilized by the walren and several other races for as far back as anyone can remember... it is unknown who first used it in weapons however but as far as plasma bolts are concerned they are thought to have originated some Time in the 102nd century EWR.
