Deimos
Kazel fought to cast out the outlanders that dared to settle Lumin lands. The Nomi of the Shoguantes who encroached from the south and the Jovun of Yggdragun from the west. He razed settlement, butchered their people, and exterminated entire families to reduce their stain on his homeland. All in service to nature and his gods. However, he didn't get all of them which would prove to be his undoing when they formed a great warband to hunt down his. The battle was hardfought and many of those outsiders would not live to tell the tale of this battle. However, his age and the ferocity of his foe would prove to be Kazel's undoing as the Orc was cut down by a young boy, barely even an adult. However, he died in service to his people which was the most he could ask for. When he woke up in Mortis, he was beset by the Raven Queen's servants who truly asked him if what he did was worth it. They tried to make him repent for the actions he took over the course of his life. It confused him because why would they ask him of that? Even Celestials tried to make him see the error of his ways. Why would they do this? He fought for his people, what could he have done wrong because of that? He refused and soon, the day of his sentencing came. He was to be sent to the plane of Deimos. The very words caused a chill in the air and pushed other souls away from him. Kazel was the only one who had that sentence as the servants of the Raven Queen escorted him to the portal. In front of it were two fiends, a devil and a demon each. They offered him the ability to come to their plane instead, wishing to strike a bargain with him. When he walked through the portal to Deimos, he almost wished he had joined them. What he found was a blasted landscape, torn asunder by war. Countless bodies of varying degrees of decomposing. Broken weapons litered the battlefield. And destroyed trees and other parts of nature ravaged by war. This was his afterlife? This is what he had fought so much for? The portal closed behind him before he could step back through or attempt to change his mind, leaving him here. With nothing but the sun that seemed more like a gaping maw staring down at him. And the stirring of creatures, all laughing from beneath the ground, black eyes gleaming as they saw him. And one prominent figure amongst them all, a rider upon a red horse. "Fight or become food for us."
Geography
The major domains of Deimos are known to revolve around death. Each domain, infinite as they are, revolve around a type of death that the inhabitants love inflicting on others. Between these domains are endless lands of snow with the ground erroded to almost dust underneath. A sign of the entropy the inhabitants want to instill upon everyone else. And no matter what, one sun gazes upon the realm. A black sun with a white corona with orange marks on the star that resemble either a blazing eye or a gaping maw. Each domain is ruled by a different Harbinger but the most notable ones and the most powerful of all belong to the Four Horseman of the World Eater. These domains are:
- The Sundered Fields: In this place, the Horseman of War regins. Here, the land is an infinite plain of soggy ground that has been flooded by blood. Crators filled with blood and destroyed parts of nature are all that remain. There are no cities or shelters left, turned to rubble or ruins where bodies both long-dead and freshly made. Daemons of War patrol the lands, battling each other or hunting for souls that have been pulled into the domain. This is what they strive for, a war-torn land where the weak are slaughtered and all kill each other until nothing remains but the destroyed lands, not even nature itself. The sky of the blood-red dawn hangs forever in this land.
- The Profane Citadel: The Horseman of Death presides over a mockery of the Raven Queen's domain. A massive citadel and spire made from the bones of a long-dead god. Around it, countless mass graves lie open, constantly being filled with victims of the Daemons. Little is known about what's inside this Citadel but it is known that countless machinations are planned here. Plots to steal souls from the Astral Paths or from the Physical Plane. All to bring about the ultimate plan and the ruin of the universe. A monotone grey sky reigns over the land.
- The Maladious Labratory: The Horseman of Pestilence leads his fellow Daemons in a great research effort to create poisons and disesases that will cause pandemics across Avestra. Poisoned plants grow out of the ground and diseased test subjects wonder the land, begging for relief. And yet they find none as their souls are damned to this until a final perfect affliction is found. It is said that even poisons that could lay low the Eternals exist in this world. And many are keen to get their hands on these weapons. A sickly green sky casts its glow over this domain.
- The Wasting Lands: The Horseman of Famine lays claim to a land where all pick over bones for even a shred of their desire. It is a mockery of the lands of Gluttony and Lust: great libraries emptied of most books, banquet halls with little to know food. All desires kept just at bay so the Daemons and the souls they keep in torment are constantly kept away from it. For brief moments, they get crumbs of food, of knowledge, of whatever they want and then it is snatched away. Like an oasis. That is why the Wasting Lands is a massive desert with mirages appearing across the landsape. All under a black sky with no stars.
History
Deimos came into exist with one being: The World Eater. The oldest Daemon. The only Daemon. And one so powerful that even the gods feared them if the story of the Harbingers are to be believed. Before the gods dispersed to their different realms, they attacked Deimos in a great battle that resulted in the death of many gods. But in the end, the World Eater was defeated and sealed away, supposedly becoming the great star that casts its light upon it. Then, the Harbingers were formed from the remnants of the World Eater and the first Daemons born from the souls of mortals came soon after.
At first, the Daemons were subtle and quiet, joining their fellow Fiends into the Blood War. They believed it was a sign from the World Eater to begin their great war to purge the universe of life. And yet when the curse came upon the Fiends, the Daemons did not fight. They hid their planet and let the Demons and Devils fight amongst themselves. Even as the X'ith'ila tore through the Astral Paths and even attacked Deimos, they bided their time.
But it all came to a head in the Eternal Age during the fall of the Eternal Empire. The Horseman of War, joined by many Harbingers, tore through a rift into what would become the Badlands of Alus. For a century, they either warred on the battlefield or did strategies in the backgrounds that caused even more death. In the end, however, they were defeated and forced back to Deimos, barely stronger than when they left. But once again, they bide their time, waiting for the mortals to forget them once more and to begin another ploy. Some to bring all life to the end or a rare few, release the greatest Daemon of all times and join them in their war against the Gods once again.
