The Obstructed War

The Obstructed War is known as the shortest war in Čavijet, lasting for only three days in part by the interference of The Nest and the coincidental surfacing of the Četnamoré. A petty spat between Karneharte and Dijargia over who owned the rights to the treasure in a sunken ship grew out of proportion through the instigation of both sides by Šumatarte.   As the two sides were about to initiate combat, the Četnamoré's fin rose out of the water, cutting them off from one another. This provided time for The Nest to inform the sides that they had both been duped by Šumatarte who had originally sunk the ship and plundered its treasures.   With this information, Dijargia and Karneharte quickly responded, calling off the war and instead allying together against Šumatarte.

The Conflict

Prelude

News of an ancient Dijargian ship rumored to have been carrying a large number of treasures when it disappeared circulated to the two countries. Dijargia believed that it should have claim to the treasure because the ship was its to begin with. Karneharte, however, wanted the treasure for itself and claimed that it should be there's because the ship was in their waters and had been abandoned by Dijargia for many years.   Neither willing to back down, the incident blew up into a naval war with Šumatarte working behind the scenes to instigate the fight.

Conditions

The conditions at the time were not great. Strong winds and cloudy skies prevented aerial reconnaissance provided by flying beasts, and the rough waters made it so that no one knew the Četnamoré was before them until it surfaced.

The Engagement

As the two sides neared each other in preparation for battle, the long dorsal fin of the Četnamoré rose out of the water between them, cutting them off from each other. It stretched for miles, and with no way to determine where the other party was, both sides stayed where they were for around three days.

Outcome

Neither side suffered any casualties as they were separated before they could actually meet in battle and instead, the fleets of both navies joined together to launch a joint attack on Šumatarte.

Aftermath

Although they allied together for a time after that, some tensions remained between the two countries due to the initial conflict but neither took any real action on it.
