Dunseirrin
The great kingdom of the Duergar, Dunseirrin is one of the gateways into the Underdark, and acts as a defense against the horrid monsters and abominations that make the underdark their home. With this sort of system as a defense for the upper world, the edges of the kingdom from its deepest boarders in the underdark to the boarders just below the surface are heavily defended with strong walls and military so that their people are protected from both sides.
Due to their act of defense for the surface, they are seen as great and respected guards among the majority of kingdoms just like their underdark brother kingdom of Eryndlyn.
Structure
Dunspeirrin's military is the main power of the kingdom's government. Unlike with other monarchy systems, nobles and their social standing are not based on any sort of heritage towards the royal family or the amount of wealth they accommodated but based on former military rank and even current military might. Mayor's of towns and cities, Governors and the like are given that position based on their military prowess and are heads of the squadrons and troops of their jurisdictions.
Culture
The culture of Dunseirrin is rich and diverse, but one thing always rings true; their military and combat are at the root of this kingdom's culture. Every citizen is required to go through self defense combat training in their youth and a year of military training and deployment in their late teens. Many are incentivized to stay in the military due to the pay and the potential of nobility in the future.
Performance, literature, and hard-material crafting/carving is the most respected and predominant art in Dunseirrin for its show of strength in body and/or mind. For many painting is a less desired and respected type of art unless in a highly detailed or realistic style to promote great control over body movement and precision.
In the bordering towns and cities in the underdark, it is not unusual for there to be parties that go into the underdark wilds to prove their strength and militia might by bringing back massive kills of monsters and other hostile entities. For many in the underdark borders, a cultural tradition that marks adulthood is a trek into the underdark wilderness and returning with a kill of some sort, either going alone to prove might, or with a group of other soon-to-be adults to prove military cooperation and leadership.
Nobles like Dukes, Counts, and Barons pride themselves on having private militias with arguably better military training than the kingdom's men and superior weaponry and armor. These nobles will do business with the military and send their militias to places to either strengthen the troops already there, or fill in for the military if emergency calls and they cannot spare the soldiers.
Public Agenda
To keep their people strong, and enjoy the foundations of the underdark and the surface.
Assets
As one of the only two kingdoms to have access to the underdark, they are heavily supplied with materials found only in the underdark from minerals and gemstones, to foods and natural grown materials.
Dunseirrin is known for having one of the most elite soldiers in Avros because of their militaristic culture and lifestyle. For many kingdoms, the idea of invading Dunseirrin would be considered a death sentence because every citizen has the capacity to be a threat.
Demography and Population
Over eighty percent of the population are Grey Dwarves with the second largest group being of Drow. The rest of the population is a sprinkling of other races from across Avros.
Territories
In regards to the surface, Dunspeirrin controls very little land outside of the immediate area around the chasm leading into the underdark and the rest of their kingdom. Below the surface in the Underdark, they control a great deal of land equal to any of the kingdoms on the surface.
Military
Dunspeirrin's military is one of the greatest in Avros, with it being an aspect of nearly every asset of the country from government to culture. However, they aren't simple barbarians when it comes to their views, seeing intelligence and teamwork as just as, if not more important, than physical might.
Their military is such that even other kingdom's have taken notes and implemented practices from Dunseirrin into their own military. One of the best examples is how they handle the disabled in their military, with combat and military training designed specifically to accommodate whatever disability they may have and how to adapt and prevent it from hindering them in combat and even supplying their soldiers with the appropriate gear from battle ready wheelchairs to military grade prosthesis.
Religion
Dunseirrin's primary deities of worship are Glangeddin Silverbeard, the god of battle and honor in combat; Gorm Gulthyn, the god of vigilance and defense; Haela Brightaxe, goddess of luck and battle; and to a lesser extent Thard Harr, god of survival, hunting and nature
Foreign Relations
Due to their act of defense for the surface against creatures of the Underdark, they are revered with great respect by most kingdoms and so their relationship with the surrounding countries is a mutual and friendly alliance.
Our walls are strong, but our people are stronger.
