The Forging of Avistar's Crown

It's a confusing history to be sure. No one said that studying the origins of Avistar was easy.
— Bikrana Silvermoon, Historian

Overview

The crown of Avistar played a critical role in Avistarian politics for most of the Principality's existence. Even the Kingdom of Helia, having defeated the principality and now ruling its lands, is searching for it.

The Legend

No one is sure when when the forging of Avistar's Crown happened, but many believe it occurred in the year 458AGC. The crown was forged by Alcide Avistar, the first of his royal lineage. Alcide Avistar was an accomplished blacksmith, having taken it up as a hobby as well as seeking the instruction of Dwarven Grandmaster Blacksmith from the Kingdom of Vhara.   Alcide Avistar had seized control of the Kingdom of Vista from the corrupt Ironhammer family in the 555AGC uprising. When the final battle was won, the survivors of the battle saw a traveling stars falling to the earth and landing in the woods just outside of . Everyone took it as a sign that Alcide had the favor of the gods. Alcide proceeded at once to the site of the fallen star, and there he found a lump of exotic metals. He decided upon inspection of the metal that his crown would be forged from this metal, and that he would craft the item himself.   Moving the lump of fallen star metal to the Dwarven forge in Arancia, the place where Alcide practiced his hobby, proved a challenge. Remnant Ironhammer loyalists would attack his convoy at several points along the road. Additionally, while the metal was light it was bulky. Its shape was also quite uneven. Tying down the metal securing was next to impossible with the ropes and later chains that Alcide's people had on hand. The metal fell off the cart several times. Luckily, the metal was lighter than iron, so moving it was more a matter of handling than strength. In spite of the challenges, the metal found its way to the forge.   Alcide did not forge his crown in a single night. As the crown would be important to him and his lineage he desired perfection. When he would forge a crown one day, he would melt it down and begin again the next. They say he spent seven days forging and reforging his crown until it was just as he desired. As soon as the crown was made, Alcide Avistar proceeded with his coronation and became the king of Vista.

Note(s) from the Archivists:

Did Alcide really perfect his crown? Or was he just fed up with working on it? - Archivist Bob   He probably did perfect the item, as any drawing or account of it described an immaculately made item. - Archivist Enna
