Vavadians

The Vavadians know their spices.
— Bror Sundberg, Chef

Overview

The Vavadians live on the southwest corner of the Deshret Continent, their primary settle being the Gateway City of Vavahady. The gateway city controls one of a few clear paths into and out of the Oniruuru Desert. As such, the city and its people control a valuable trade route and have built up wealth as a result.   The Vavadians largely keep to themselves as they rarely have to find trading partners. Recent advances in sailing techniques have allowed them to more easily reach the ports of Quassus.

Spices

The Vavadians are best known by Quassus peoples for their exotic spices. The particular climate of southwest Deshret allows for the growth of a great array edible plants. Vavadian spice exports include the following:
  • Cinnamon
  • Cloves
  • Coriander
  • Hot Curry
  • Sweet Curry
  • Cardamon
  • Mustard Seed
  • Tumeric
  • Green Chili Pepper
  • Black Pepper
These spices are used to create a wide variety of beautiful and highly delectable meals enjoyed by Vavadians on a daily basis. It is these meals that are the most prized cultural exports of the Vavadians.

It looks like their city is a gateway in more ways than one.

High Demand, High Prices

Residents of Quassus rarely pass up the opportunity to purchase Vavadian spices when they have the means. The spices add flavor and even color that is rarely seen outside of Deshret. As such, the spices can be used to demonstrate an individual's prosperity and culinary sophistication. In general, Vavadian spices are a luxury item that can create some truly exotic victuals. Needless to say, Vavadian traders making it to ports of cities such as Centrum leverage this reputation and often bring pack a sizable purse to their home city of Vavahady.
