The Night of Solace

Overview

The Night of Solace is a celebration of friends and family and encourages people to spend time with loved ones. In most cases, this takes the form of parties, drinks and sitting down to watch the celestial beauty of Kaldranon's tears.

Mythos

Before the mortals and before the Venientium. Axeram and Kaldranon existed. They were passionate lovers who wished only to be together. However, in some cruel twist of fate, they were cursed into an endless dance. Forced to never feel the warmth of each other's embrace. Every one and half years, their elaborate dance would bring the two close enough to talk. To this day the sound of Axeram's voice is enough to bring Kaldranon to tears. This resulted in celebration via song and dance as a way to add to Axeram's voice so that Kaldranon might hear it more clearly. The only solace Axeram felt was the light touch of Kaldranon's tears as they brushed her face.

History

There is no known date where the night of solace started as the celestial event it is based on has been happening since before mortals, veldren or the Ven. However, it is believed to have originated in the southern continents of Seldranon and Malidis, and the Veldren that ruled there before the mortal era. This is because the mythos behind the night of solace was first written by the chroniclers.

Execution

The day is spent in preparation for the festival. Stages and tables are set outside in parks in towns and major settlements. Those who dislike the loudness of such an event tend to find a quiet spot just out of town for the day.
When the sun begins to set, people make their way to their desired festivities under the night sky. Song and dance ring out across cities as people party and watch the meteor shower overhead.

Observance

The Night of Solace occurs in relation to the binary planet 'Kaldranon's orbit. Being celebrated in the night where Axeram and Kaldranon are at their closest. Since the festival is based on planetary orbits, it is only held once every one and a half years.
