Session 4: Gathering Information

General Summary

The group deal with the aftermath with the skirmish with the old mage. Searching through the short tower, they discover a few potions and scrolls. It is also learned that the wizard is, in fact, a wanted fugitive from The Radiant Tower - the premier arcane institution - and that information regarding his whereabouts would likely be appreciated by the authorities. Lavarius Longstaff was ejected for pursuing dangerous research. It appears he continued that research in exile and recently made a breakthrough. All those giant beasts were of his doing. He had improved upon the Enlarge spell, increasing the duration.
With the group aiming to return to Ullford, Lorrak & Shadow headed eastwards to inform the local wolf pack that the situation has been resolved. The adventuring party reached town without any issues and immediately passed the information regarding Lavarius to the Ullford Lawkeepers.
Back at The Hunter's Purse, Soldunn spent the majority of the night catching up with Magrus & Brumman Ironfoot, the local blacksmiths and long time acquaintances. He lost at cards but beat the morning hangover. Meanwhile, in the morning, Zeth'rim and Jraxler had the potions identified by Halatir Oberon as a Potion of Enlargement (unsurprisingly) and a Potion of Haste (more surprising). The scrolls obtained were also naturally for the Enlarge spell too. Halatir also confirmed that some rings found were not of any magical purpose. Jraxler inquired about the large bird he seeks and Halatir confirmed Lorrak's previous belief that the bird in Jraxler's drawings is a Roc. He also reiterated that Rocs tend to roost in mountainous areas.
With no leads to follow, Falco suggests helping the town get ready for the upcoming Day of Plenty. As such, they made their way to Council building where supplies required taking off wagons and storing away. There, they met Baldre Tonte (only previous known by Soldunn), a Council member who directed them with instruction. The day passed along until Rafferty Kloss, the Head Lawkeeper for Ullford that the group had previous furnished with the information about Lavarius approached Baldre, clearly distressed. Rafferty, upon spotting the unmistakable forms of Falco and Zeth'rim particularly beckoned them over and shared the news that one of the carriages had been attacked on the road by bandits. Worst of all, the carriage was carrying the Dancing Fire for the festival. Dancing Fire, which is made from Blackpowder...
