Overview
The Cape of the Four Winds is an Artefact of legendary status. It is said to hold some of Essina, the goddess of wind's, power within it.
Appearance
It is a hooded cloak, in fact. Predominantly white, it transitions to pale blues in its lower portions. It is held together at the front with a diamond shaped clasp. The flowing patterning across the cloak in those blues and greys move slowly, like the winds. Underneath the main cloak are blue ribbon-like strips.
History
During the Cataclysm War
The most notable user of The Cape of the Four Winds came during the Cataclysm War. Marko Melotis was an Ialos-born former pirate who rose through the ranks of the Ialos naval force during the war and defending the waters of Maressea from all manner of threats. He is said to have worn The Cape of the Four Winds, and in the aftermath, hid the Cape in a location he knew from his days as a pirate. Marko's action ensured him the role of Proson ton Tidor (Representative of Tidor, i.e. Master of Ships) for the remainder of this working life. His son succeeded him and each descendant that followed held the role all the way to the current day.
After the War
Many an adventurer and historian have sought and theorised the location of the Cape of the Four Winds. During Melotis's pirate days, it was believed his base of operations was somewhere in the Villeona Archipelago.
Recently, in early 585PC, two scholars of the
The Aldenian Archaeological Society, Dawsin Fossoway and Anthor Hawick recruited the adventuring party known as The Grey Knights, through the
Voi Technia. Fossoway and Hawick believed they had uncovered the true location of Melotis's hideout and had approached
Lycia Steros, who held a vested interest in recovered such an important artefact and she agreed to be their benefactor in this endeavour.
On the island of Vorini, in the archipelago, the group discovered a hidden entrance in Mon Odonti, a huge solitary needle-like mountain that sits at the middle of the island. Only visible to the Grey Knights (who all happened to be Dion'dia - the Chosen of the Gods), they guided Fossoway and Hawick into the mountain, and found themselves in a strange tower that seemingly resided in the core of the mountain. Reaching the top of the tower, and mountain, they found The Cape of the Four Winds, amongst other treasure... and a young Tornado Dragon that had made the tower its home.
Besting the dragon, the Cape was taken and interred into the care of Lycia Steros until a suitable candidate could be found to utilise it.
