The Hells

If we accept that there is a realm for the gods, then we must also accept there is a realm for the archdevils
— Gordan Kreen, High Priest and author of 'Devils and the Hells'

Summary

The Hells are the home planes for the Archdevils and their devilspawn. Originally, they were depicted as nine planes stacked upon one another and were referred to as The Nine Hells as a result. However, this concept fell out of favour due to reports from individuals who supposedly travelled these planes thousands of years ago. Their accuracy is debated in the current time, but the modern belief of the arrangement of the planes is one plane on top, which acts as the first port of call for anyone travelling into the Hells. Below this, are the seven interconnected planes of the Archdevils of Sin, appropriately known as the Ring of Sin. At the base, below the Ring of Sin, is where the plane belonging to Nixos, Lord of Sin, is located.   They are sometimes referred to as Nixrelme in ancient texts. Nixrelme is the Old Tongue for 'Evil Realms'. In some texts, the Hells are called The Planes of Sin, to reflect the nature of the individuals who supposedly rule over them.

The Hells

Agrelm - Realm of Deals

The Realm of Deals (or Agrelm in Old Tongue) is the plane that has always been depicted on top. Orbiz Pak is its native Nixaran/Devilspeak name. It is also referred to as The First Hell, due to it being supposedly the only Hell immediately accessible from the mortal realm. It is ruled over by Azintor. Azintor, apart from Nixos who is the Lord of all Sin, is the only Archdevil not attached to a traditional sin. Though, he is sometimes referred to as the Archdevil of Desperation, as if his sin is desperation. Azintor supposedly appears to those seeking to make a deal and also works as the in-between, connecting the other Archdevils with their quandries.   Agrelm is described as being a city made of black stone with canals of lava flowing between the streets. It is the centre where Azintor operates, and lesser devils make deals with mortals in an attempt to rise up through the devil hierarchy.

Furelm - Realm of Wrath

The Realm of Wrath (or Furelm in Old Tongue) is the plane of Akrimon, Archdevil of Wrath. Furelm is detailed as being singular rocky island amongst a stormy sea, with an angry sky of continuous lightning strikes. Akrimon himself is said to be the most imposing of the Archdevils of Sin, aside from Nixos. Ten feet tall, orange-skinned, bulky, with pulsing veins of lightning. Two large horns protrude from the side of his head and converge at the front, rising towards the sky for a further two feet. Akrimon sits upon a throne in a large castle at the centre of his island.

Avarelm - Realm of Greed

The Realm of Greed (or Avarelm in Old Tongue) is the plane of Avedeel, Archdevil of Greed. The land of the Avarelm is dry and dusty and devoid of life. It is split into large chunks by huge rivers of acid. Avedeel's home is a massive copper walled fortress, said to house the greatest of fortunes. She has yellow-skin and a series of little horn around her head, giving the appearance of a crown. She supposed has a gem embedded in each of those horns. She sits on an ornate throne, decked in finery and jewellery, surrounded by her wealth.

Gorelm - Realm of Gluttony

The Realm of Gluttony (or Gorelm in Old Tongue) is the plane of Devorit, Archdevil of Gluttony. At first glance, the Realm of Gluttony is surprisingly verdant and lush. Upon closer inspection, its patrons are overworked and farms are in a constant state of harvest. Devorit lounges at the centre, in her chambers, with a continuous conveyor of servants bringing her food. Her grey skin bulges with excess in all parts of her body. Her horns are circular and almost meet in front of her, like an ironic halo.

Desrelm - Realm of Lust

The Realm of Lust (or Desrelm in Old Tongue) is the plane of Laveus, Archdevil of Lust. Laveus' realm is vibrant and psychedelic. It supposedly is filled with pleasant-smelling plants with a large city at its core, where Laveus himself resides. His horns curve upwards and at the top, inwards. He is usually depicted in low-cut shirts and robes, displaying his lean and muscular purple-skinned body beneath. The city is full of gilded chateaus separated by flowing, curving streets.

Vasrelm - Realm of Pride

The Realm of Pride (or Vasrelm in Old Tongue) is the plane of Vastia, Archdevil of Pride. The Realm of Pride, whilst on the same level as the other six, gives off the illusion of being high in the sky. A city built in the clouds, gleaming white spires, gilded in silvers and golds. Vastia supposedly coasts around her city, her pearlescent white skin matching her abode. She has two perfectly symmetrical horns, one out of each temple.   Whilst the Realm of Pride sounds as if it belongs in the divine world instead, it is important to note Vastia rules her realm with an iron fist. Anyone or anything is cast out and thrown off her floating city, cursed to perpetually fall through the never-ending sky around it.

Covrelm - Realm of Envy

The Realm of Envy (or Covrelm in Old Tongue) is the plane of Kravatar, Archdevil of Envy. The Realm of Envy is a poisonous swamp. Kravatar sits in his hollowed-out tree somewhere within.

Tirelm - Realm of Sloth

The Realm of Sloth (or Tirelm in Old Tongue) is the plane of Doaxo, Archdevil of Wrath. Doaxo lives in a cold wasteland. A world of frost is what would welcome you in Tirelm. Supposedly, time passes even more slowly in the Realm of Sloth than it does in all of the other Hells. The blue-skinned Archdevil's home is a palace of ice.

Nixrelm - Realm of Evil

The Realm of Evil (or Nixrelm in Old Tongue) is the plane of Nixos, Archdevil of Sin. His world is a world of perpetual darkness. Chunks of rock, suspended in space with no clue of where the edges lie. Nixos resides is an immense black tower at the centre of the Nixrelm. He is the largest of all the Archdevils at fifteen feet tall.
