Gaoth'reinn (gOWth-rain)

Carved from the sturdy blackstone of the Agis Cliffs, Gaoth'reinn is a thriving coastal city, rich with culture and tradition, with strong connections to the wind and sea. With many residents reliant on the ocean for their livelihoods, the people of Gaoth'reinn are incredibly talented sailors and navigators, with tales being told of explorers who have found the 'Edge of the World'. The city is ruled by Clan MacMhuirich, with the current Sovereign being King Eoin Kailen.

Government

Gaoth'reinn is ruled over by a royal clan, with other clans making up a council. Currently, the reigning clan is Clan MacMuirich, led by King Eoin MacMuirich. The council has the ability to input and vote on law making, city disputes and affairs, trade and conflict, but ultimately the King has the final say on matters. If found to be corrupt or poor leaders, the royal clan can be challenged for their position as rulers, a challenge which half the council must agree to, at which point a duel will take place. If won, the royal clan will be replaced. This tradition has not been enacted in over 80 years.

History

In recent years, the city has faced great hardship, falling under a curse that caused all inhabitants within it to turn to stone, earning it the name 'City of Tombs'. Thanks to the efforts of the MacMuirich clan heir, the curse was eventually reversed, but the memory lingers.

Points of interest

Gaoth'reinn is the only settlement on the Northern coast of Ket'rani, as the winds that strike the coastline are so harsh that many townships have been destroyed during storms. Gaoth'reinn is the exception, carved from the cliffs themselves, the darkstone of the Agis Cliffs is some of the strongest in all of Axordia, allowing the city to remain intact where so many others have crumb

Architecture

The city is carved into the stone of the Agis Cliffs, with the majority of the buildings and houses being made from darkstone and pinewood. No statues or carved images of any people exist within the city due to trauma and fear still lingering following the curse laid upon the city, where all its inhabitants were turned to stone. As such, any statues that once existed there were removed, and sent as gifts to other allied settlements.

Natural Resources

Due to its location, the people of Gaoth'reinn are the only people in all of Ket'rani able to harvest the blackstone from the cliffs; or, at least, the only ones brave enough. As such, Gaoth'reinn is the leading city in Ket'rani for mining and refining the material.
