Season's Crest

Season's Crest occurs on the 21st of each mid-season month. Each is a celebration of a passover, from the coming of the season to its leaving. Each Season's Crest is celebrated with its own festival, with specific traditions varying from region to region. Most celebrations include the burning of a season's pyre, symbolic of the letting go of the previous season's pains and starting anew. Other common traditions include: setting lanterns out to sea (coastal or river/lake bordering settlements), seasonal dances, stalls and entertainment, light magic displays, and food stalls at festivals.  During these festivals, smogwhales often pass over the settlement, consuming the smoke from the pyres. As well as this, Season's Crest is one of the few times that aetherwhales can be consistently seen, appearing bright and ethereal in the night sky each Season's Crest.
