The Moongrove

Located in the northern part of the Kataski Forest, a sprawling woodland that covers the Western Region of Ket'rani, the Moongrove is a temple dedicated to Melora, the Wildmother.   The temple embodies the power of the Wildmother, and is a frequented place for many members of the Whaleguard who wish to become more in tune with the natural world they protect.

Design

Residents' rooms and supply rooms border the main area of the temple, with wooden floors and palestone separating walls with similar carvings as the outer walls, depicting plants, animals and landscapes of Axordia. The main area of the temple has no roof, and the wooden flooring of the rooms gives way to a garden, a spring and small river leading from the temple bringing fresh water to the surrounding town. In the centre of the garden lies an oak altar, with a green and pale pink cloth draped over it. A single moonlily sits atop the altar, unblemished and sustained by the magic of the Wildmother.

Sensory & Appearance

The temple is pleasantly warm, buzzing with the care and warmth of the Wildmother's magic. The smell of flowers and plants is prominent due to the ever-blooming garden in the centre of the temple.

Architecture

The temple itself is a moss covered temple made from oak wood and palestone, wrapped in vines and creeping flowers. With four great oaks at each corner, the temple was constructed using earth magic, the branches of each tree linking together and creating a framework for the temple's walls. Within this frame, palestone bricks intricately decorated with carvings and vine channels similar to those in Daskardia make up the structure of the walls, in order to allow the temple to be covered with plant life and flowers. There is a large stained glass window on the south facing wall, glass inlaid into the twisting tree branches, that depicts a blooming moonlily, wreathed in a golden halo of light and framed by grass, trees and stars.

Tourism

This temple is often frequented by members of the Whaleguard as, due to the oath they take to protect the natural wold, many worship the Wildmother and make a habit of giving offerings to her when near one of her temples.
