Shadow sloth

This species of sloth, originating from the Shadowfell, has developed the ability to harness the Shadow Weave and uses it both to cool itself, to conduct sneak attacks on unsuspecting travellers and to build its environment to its leisure.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This species has longer limbs than the normal sloth and a darker fur, but is otherwise similar to its ancestor.

Ecology and Habitats

It usually lives in forests, slowly corrupting them with Shadow energy. It builds bridges between trees with the bones of its victims to avoid having to jump

Dietary Needs and Habits

It is a herbivore, sustaining itself on leaves and has its favourite trees(although they often don't seem to differ in any way from other of their species, leading biologists to suspect that it is purely arbitrary).

Behaviour

While the shadow sloth is herbivorous in nature, it is extremely aggressive and will attack any creature it sees, even other shadow sloths outside of its reproductive period. It will use the shadow weave to cool itself, making it able to execute swift attacks, and it will also be able to become nearly invisible while in the canopy and teleport over short distances.
After having killed a creature, the sloth will drag it to a nearby branch, remove its bones and magically add it to one of the bridges this species makes between branches of close trees. This allows them to walk from tree to tree instead of having to jump or descend from the trunks.
