Disaster / Destruction
The city of Allsdale is cast into darkness by a spiteful, powerful Wizard, yet overcomes this disparity ever stronger.
Yutonnel, formerly known as Allsdale, was once a small-to-medium size city that attracted visitors thanks to the Havington brothers and their theater set up near the city square. Here they would hold shows that amazed and delighted, gaining a cult following and creating many repeat customers. With enough fame they began to open their shoes to new talents in a sort of 'open stage' night, and while a few shows were considered quality, all of them were entertaining...as even the bad shows made for a good laugh. A wizard, Neilius Breenly, was convinced he would produce the best show to ever grace the eyes of the audience, and spent years honing his craft, preparing magical effects, seeking a cast far and wide, and devoting his finances for the sake of the show, yet when during his performance the crowd began to laugh. His plot was contrived, some lines were read with tones and inflections not fitting of the scene, and the show was simply not as best as he had planned. The crowd did not relent, and what he thought to be his magnum opus, a ballad detailing the sorrows of love lost, was soon devolved into little more than a comedy as the audience submitted to hilarity. Enraged and humiliated, Neilius fled the city, vowing his revenge, and for years he would replay the memory of their laughing faces in his mind. Eventually he returned, and with all of his might cast a spell of eternal darkness over the city and its surrounding lands, denying the animals and plants the sun they needed to survive. Allsdale suffered because of this, as their previous trade of lumber and elk hide was no longer viable since the plants did not grow and the elk left for warmer weather, but the theater, now the main source of income and interest, only served to thrive. More focus was placed on entertainment venues and soon an arena was established. Now growing larger and faster than it was prior to the curse, Allsdale renamed itself to Yutonnel and restructured its aesthetics to better fit this theme.
