Chiraki Hunting

To say chiraki hunters have screws loose is an understatement. Many set foot in the Chiraki Abyss to taste thrill, excitement, forget their mundane lives and get filthy rich. While some are content to hunt in the uppermost layers, others are more audacious and prefer the middle layers' freezing chill. Only the utmost daring descend to the deepest layers and hunt especially dangerous creatures.
For leisure, many enjoy drinking in numerous inns and taverns scattered around the mountainside, gambling on small chiraki rings, fighting anyone that happened to stand close and swindling inexperienced merchants.

Equipment

Bows, crossbows, lances, spears and knives are the most commonly used weapons for hunting while countless foothold traps and pits are spread throughout the chasm. Trekking poles are used for stability during walking and checking the ground for traps or concealed chirakis.
Clothing depends on the location. The upper five layers need relatively thin attire, those travelling to the middle five must dress especially warmly, while the lower three require breathable garments.

Potions
Chiraki-reversing potions are vital for enduring Abyss’s mutagenic air. Amaar’s Breath is less concentrated inside the surface layers, thus cloth masks and nose plugs drenched in the potions are sufficient. However, hunters advancing towards deeper layers need to constantly consume reversing drugs and regularly look out for transformation symptoms.

Other potion types include healing accelerators, energy amplifiers, luring substances and analgetics. Raised writing on bottles makes it easier to read the content with a swift touch.
Firefly Lanterns
Chiraki fireflies are bred in Abyss’s first layer and placed inside lanterns. Fireflies are biologically immortal as long as they inhale Abyss’s air and occasionally consume meat. Animal horns are used to create lantern windows, which have metal coverings to adjust the brightness as needed.

Crane operators

Large cranes are raised in different layers, bringing hunted goods to the surface. The operators usually take a portion of items as payment, but they are not liable if the loot disappears for any reason. The operators work in shifts to prevent chiraki transformation.

Legendary Hunters

Those who ventured all the way and survived the ascent are known as the Legendary Hunters. To prove their descent, they bring water from a lake in the thirteenth layer. A single drop can mutate anything it touches, erasing all doubts towards the adventurer.
No legendary hunter can share what they saw in the thirteenth layer. Many were found dead in their chambers, still gripping the pen over a blank paper, while those who spoke the tale were swiftly killed by the maddened listeners.
