Journals of Johannes Mitala Years 1865-1870

These are the personal journals of Johannes Mitala from the years 1865 to 1870. They chronicle his time as the leader of the Talon Syndicate, a guild of beast-slayers and assassins. Mitala was leader of the Syndicate from 1860-1870, during which time he allowed women to acquire their licenses. However, the current leader of the Syndicate does not allow women this freedom and states precedence of Mitala, citing his personal journals from '65 to '70. During this time, there were in fact no women that were licensed on the rolls. The journals, however, are questionable as to their authorship. The handwriting matches perfectly with the journals from previous years but the language used and style of writing are different, although it's not immediately apparent.

Purpose

These are the personal journals of the leader of the Talon Syndicate. They state his activities, such as dining with the mayor of Ketra, and his thoughts on things like current students in the academy and licensure of candidates. They were written for the purpose of recording Mitala's life. He kept meticulous journals his entire life, most of which were left to his family. He donated his personal journals to the Syndicate from the years that he was leader after making copies for his family. It is thought that the real journals are kept locked in the current leader's suite of rooms.

Document Structure

Clauses

The journals are written with daily entries, dated and written neatly. There are five volumes in question, though there are ten volumes total, one for each year he was leader.

Publication Status

The journals are accessible to members of the Talon Syndicate. Members of the general public must seek special permission to view them.

Historical Details

Background

These journals, whether real or fake, mark the end of women being able to get their beast-slaying licenses. They are still allowed to train and be members of the Syndicate but they'll never be able to charge what a licensed slayer charges, so their income will suffer.

History

These documents support the current leader's position that women are denied licensure as slayers. They don't give a reason why this is the case, just state that women were denied it.

Public Reaction

The public doesn't see these documents, for the most part. Women that are members of the Talon Syndicate are angry about them but helpless to make any real change, as the leader refuses to listen to their cause.

Legacy

The policy of not licensing women as slayers may change with the next leader but for the next ten years, this is what they have to put up with unless something drastic happens.
