Templebrook

Templebrook is a naturally sheltered place in which Greta and her grandmother do magic. It is a shelter both literally and figuratively, allowing the Lunde witches to perform magic in private. It amplifies the power and causes spells to be stronger than when performed other places. Templebrook is not open to the public but occasionally Greta's grandmother will invite another witch friend over to perform rituals there.

Geography

Templebrook is a spring located on the west side of a medium-sized hill. There is a rock outcropping that shelters several people standing up and the stream runs from the back of the outcropping along the south edge and out the front. The floor of the outcropping is soft sand. Templebrook is located on Greta's and her grandmother's property within the city of Ketra, where they own several acres.

Ecosystem

There are fish in the stream that swim up from the river it empties into. There are also lizards in the outcropping.

Even during the harshest of winters, the spring stays open.

Localized Phenomena

Magic performed at the spring, under the rock outcropping, is particularly strong. Whether it's from generations of witches choosing this spot to do magic and leaving traces of their energy or a fluke in the way the rock focused the energy, all magic is powerful when performed here.

Climate

Oddly mild in the winter, cool in the summer.

Fauna & Flora

The floor of the cave is sand and the walls and ceiling are rock. There are lizards that live on the walls and fish in the stream. Outside of the cave are old trees, planted in rows alongside the path from the cottage. There are tall ferns growing amongst the trees.

History

The Lunde witches have owned this property since Ketra became a city. They've protected the stream and kept its powers a secret for generations. Greta's mother doesn't even know about the spring, other than that it exists, because she never showed an interest in magic.

Tourism

Gran's witch friends are eager to visit and do magic with her. They know about the magic of Templebrook but Gran made them all swear blood oaths not to tell anyone about it. If they ever break their oath, blood will pour from every cut they've ever received and they will die.
