The Twins

The Twins are two huge towers, built when the city was young. They were built to warn and protect the city against dragons, which were much more prevalent then. They also served the purpose of storing and distributing water, which could be used to put out any fires the dragon started.

Utility

It is used to repel or kill dragons. It has fallen out of use since Keizl came into power in Ketra.

Manufacturing

Two large, square towers were built out of wood with stone foundations. There are stairs spiraling around the inner walls. The cores of the towers are also made of wood, circular like a tube and sealed to contain water to put out dragon fires. The tops of the towers are stone with low walls.

Social Impact

The people of Ketra felt safer with The Twins guarding them. Once they fell out of use, the people felt confused by the sight of The Twins, because they were grateful that they no longer needed to fear the dragon but they were also scared of Keizl and his men.
Access & Availability
No one accesses the towers anymore, not even city guards. They haven't been maintained in years. The doors are chained and locked.
Complexity
The technology of the weapon is fairly complex. It uses water pressure to shoot oil at high pressure out of a large hose. A magic user is required. They ignite magefire under the stream of oil, which carries the magefire out to wherever the stream of oil is directed. The magefire-ignited oil hits the target and burns until the oil is used up. Magefire burns slowly but hotter than any other fire.
Discovery
The geography of the land surrounding the city allows a dragon to fly close without being detected, due to the city being built on a plateau and surrounded by hills. The city walls weren't high enough to allow spotters to see the dragon in time to give warning. The arrows of the city watch also didn't penetrate the dragon's scales, so a stronger weapon was needed. City architects spent weeks designing the perfect towers, tall enough to see over the hills and strong enough to support their own weight as well as the weight of the water they held. Craftsmen from all over the city were called in to design a weapon that would be deadly to a dragon that could also be mounted on the towers.
