Therus

The therus is a rubbery skinned demon whose natural form is a hairless lynx sized cat. Therai are found primarily on the plane of shadow, but are sometimes gated to the material plane by more powerful demons or wizards who think they can handle the therai. Most of these wizards are wrong. Therai can transform themselves into innocent looking kittens, only to morph back once they have their target fooled.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Therai have no fur. They have enormous red eyes, and their mouths always drip with acidic drool. Their skin is thick enough to protect them from most damage, including long falls.

Ecology and Habitats

Therai prefer areas with natural acid pools. A therus will dissolve a chamber in a wall using a combination of acid from the pools and the acid it naturally secretes. Therai like to live in litters of up to 8, any number above that tends to descend into chaos. Because they drip acid whether they want to or not, areas around therai dens will be devoid of most or all organic matter.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Therai will eat anything their acid can dissolve. They prefer intelligent life however, if only to savor tricking the prey with their kitten disguise. When hunting unintelligent prey, they hunt in the same way as a normal cat. When hunting anything however, they hunt in packs. Therai never save their food, and devour everything right away, sometimes killing each other in the frenzy.
