Arguments of Byr-yth

The Tender is considered one of the most merciful and kind of the gods. They have proposed arguments in support of the most basic and fundamental needs for the citizens of the Realm. The faithful are thus, some of the most generous and socially minded citizens of the Realm.
Their wisdom has been given to their followers in the form of structured arguments demonstrating key aspects of their beliefs, justification for how to live life, and rational arguments defending the church and Realm's various policies.
The Arguments are thus as much a religious texts as they are a socio-educational texts.

The Arguments currently are contained in 157 large volumes at all major churches of The Tender. Various short forms, summaries, editorial notes and commentaries are also circulated. Most officials sanctioned by the church body, but some possibly divergent summaries or commentaries are not sanctioned. Though, not considered completely heretical, these unsanctioned papers are discouraged officially.
Many high priests and upper church clergy view them as a dilution, not a contamination. They state: " It is not within the Tender's nature to harshly punish, but to nurture. How can we thus in good faith, harshly proscribe citizens who clearly and greatly need nurturing? It would be better to speak wisely with them, so that they come to give up their foolish ignorances."

It is a certainty that if it was not for Durian's church, then the following of Byr-yth would have been the preeminent church of the Realm. There are millions of followers of Byr-yth, but they are not as concerned with Law or motivated to bring Law to the far reaches of the Realm. Those who seek the wisdom of the Tender, basically align most closely with a life that practices a steady gentle, almost glacial, acceptance of the inevitability of Her Will. They state: " It all takes time. Look how long it's taken the Mother? 57000 years, and still there are citizens who refuse Her wisdoms. She's right here. Living right in the Realm. Byr-yth, is a god. What does it matter the time, to the gods. 1000 years, 100000 years .... 1 million year.... Byr-yth will be there for their faithful."

Purpose

The arguments are the collection of philosophical writings of various styles favoured during the time of writing that various esteemed faithful of Byr-yth have contributed throughout history. They a chosen by the Pentavis to illuminate and educate the faithful.

Arguments of Byr-yth

From the Arguments Eternal:

On the soul, as founding premise for and in derivation of experience after death, and further extension existence after death.

Consider not the evidence of the soul as presented from various other sources. These evidences may in many ways be suspect or flawed. It is not that they may not suffice to provide proof of the soul, but rather that the possibility of proof is not sufficient. One may as well believe that the horizon ends, even though we can never reach it to prove such.
Rather let us seek the nobler endeavour for irrefutable proof that a soul exists.
Ee-Loque is not the soul. Accept this first premise. To consider it such, would be to ignore millennia of evidence provided to us from the Brotherhood and other faithful. The identity is not passed with the Breath, and so we are confronted with the question.
How many parts does the soul have?
Which distracts us from the first question.
From where does the soul come from?
Let us consider that if something exists that before its existence was its opposite. To increase in size is by consequence to have been small. To learn something is by consequence to have been ignorant.
If we conclude that souls exists, then we must also conclude that the anti-soul exists. What wonderful possibilities for enquiry, the nature of the soul and the anti-soul. But, we have stepped ahead of ourselves.
We can limit ourselves thusly, our experience has shown that almost always, the universe is structured in the most simple and efficient way possible. Boiling water requires the exact amount of heat each time and no more or no less is required. Simple.
So, one limit we may make is that our proof will be simple.
That the soul came from the anti-soul and the anti-soul comes from the soul is as simple as it can be made. Merely and only the opposites of things are necessary.
We have these premise at our disposal in our illumination of the darkness:
Reject the complicated to seek the simple.
Reject evidence that only provides for possibility.
Reject that things become from nothing.
