MorhuTurr

Glaze Cat, Iron Cat, Grass Cat.

This six legged predator is particularly well adapted to hunt The Glaze. It is one of the larger Glaze predators having an adult average shoulder height just under 1.5 meters, and the average weight of 400kg. Typically found in small family groups called, Pods, Glaze Cats are highly nomadic spending the majority of their time hunting or following other herds of Glaze animals. Glaze Cats are not picky eaters generally attempting to hunt and kill any animal that it can surprise or that is smaller than itself.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Giant Feline with six limbs. The fur that runs along their back has adapted to look like grass from a distance. It is long and adopts the shade of grass that is appropriate for the season.

Genetics and Reproduction

Glaze Cats mate in female/male pairs for life and have litters of 3-6 kits approximately two times a year.

Growth Rate & Stages

Glaze Cats mature quickly. They are born fully capable hunters and young kits often begin hunting small rodents and birds which can be found in the Iron Sea.
Within a few months they have matured to young adults and actively hunt with either parent. It's not until their sixth month that they reach full size, but they remain with their parents and kit siblings until their ninth month.
At nine months Glaze Cats break from their family group and begin to forge, hunt and seek a mate on their own.

Ecology and Habitats

Glaze Cats roam the grass plains of Gle'lanèrino having its entire environment as their natural habitat. Specemins have been captured and taken to other locations in the Realm for the purposes of display, study and breeding, but no population of Glaze Cats is known to have successfully been transplanted to another region. Private collects have raised and bred Glaze Cats in captivity.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Adult Glaze Cats will gladly consume horses and other larger domesticated livestock, any of the large Gle'lanèrino herbivores, and eat as frequently as once or twice a week.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Glaze Cats live in small family groups, Pods, that hunt large territorial areas. They are not actively hostile towards other Pods, but will defend their territory from long term occupation.

Domestication

There are occasional single individual Glaze Cats in captivity, but they are hardly domesticated.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Various body parts of Glaze Cats are desirable for their reputed healing or invigorating powers. The Brotherhood Medicament does not have any documentation which supports this claims, but many local experts will gladly share various anecdotal facts.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Glaze cats are short haired with the exception of the fur on their backs. They generally take or match the colouration of the Glaze grasses which adjusts seasonally. This means that in the spring they colouration tends towards greens, while in the summer yellows, and in the fall reds and browns. The longer fur on their backs stands upright and is adapted to look like blades of grass. This allows them extra camouflage as they stalk their prey and from other predators of the Glaze such as Fugl'sem ai Anachwal.
