The Ballad of Ah'keeli

So, I often write and then discard. Not in the sense that I throw away, but that I determine that no other person should read my own drivel, and I never submit. Now I can hear your rude comments and imibicilic jokes about my submissions to the TSR. And, my only comment is - maybe if you weren't such an intellectual deficient you would have more respect from your fellows.

I’ve spent the last days wandering northernly I know that the Gap is to the north, and I can use the coast to lead me to Civility. Yes, I know the name is The Child’s Leaving, but every just calls it the Gap. It’s not listed in the Statutes of Her Named Places, so people call it what the want. The Why of Things often is as much a whisky of the moment as a concerted effort. And, I find myself sitting upon a rock looking over a beautiful valley surround by rolling hills flooded with perfect lighting. I know you don’t understand what I mean, or perhaps you do? Perhaps in your youth you have had that moment, those moments, where you are in easy connection with the Why and with Her. So here I am.
And to my mind, from some childhood tattered memory, I hear the Song of Ah’keeli. If I remember the details, as my mom would tell them, this song commemorates the actions of the Brother Medicament Ah’keeli the Red. I’m certain the House of Medicament’s has a more correct record of the events, but the song … well, it’s a child’s song.

Ah’keeli! Ah’keeli! Of the Red!
Came and saved us from the Dead!
With Mother’s gifts and Wisdom!
Ah’keeli! Ah’keeli Of the Red

My brother, my sister gone to ground.
My da and ma fear I will too.
Nothing nothing we can do.
A plague upon our house and yours too.
A plague upon our house and yours too.

Ah’keeli! Ah’keeli! Of the Red!
Came and saved us from the Dead!
With Mother’s gifts and Wisdom!
Ah’keeli! Ah’keeli Of the Red!

Three days, four nights,
Who knows how long, until another,
No longer sings this song,
I hope its you next to go.
Save my ma and da more sorrow!

Ah’keeli! Ah’keeli! Of the Red!
Came and saved us from the Dead!
With Mother’s gifts and Wisdom!
Ah’keeli! Ah’keeli Of the Red!

You were here but yesterday,
And now I play and sing alone.
My ma and da are happy to say,
They’re glad you’re gone and I am home!
A plague upon our house and yours too.
A plague upon our house and yours too.
Nothing Nothing we can do!

Ah’keeli! Ah’keeli! Of the Red!
Came and saved us from the Dead!
With Mother’s gifts and Wisdom!
Ah’keeli! Ah’keeli Of the Red!

Or something like that. I’m not even sure anymore what exactly happened, but I’m pretty certain no one is, except maybe scholars and the Brotherhood. I wonder why a song commemorating the building of the first Brotherhood House popped into my head. That was… oh some thousands of years ago. Maybe even in the 53Rs. This might even bother me.
