The Pioneers
Lan'oGadu T'kotor'nga
"They just came in the two of them. One was a very tall, beautiful ... unbelievably beautiful. I would have stared the entire time if I wasn't already drinking. Anyway... an elf, and the other was a scary human. Scary in a way that just gave you the feeling you should be very careful to not make any sudden movements, or draw attention to yourself.
They were Paragons that was for sure, and they were in full regalia. That armour that they have, that Ancient Wisdom, they weren't covering it up, and it was dripping Ee-Loque. It coalesced around them like a rainbow mist, wispy, like threads of leaf fibre, you know you've seen it.
Anyway... I swear just they way they stopped and looked at everyone in the foyer of the hotel was hard. It left me unsettled, because I knew that even though they looked like an Elf and Human, they were not. They were beyond that, beyond me... beyond everyone. And, more so when it instantly vanished. Yes, vanished.
They went right to the receptionist, and the moment they moved, eveything about them changed. The Ee-Loque shrouding them felt reassuring. Their gaze and presence friendly, .... best friend, friendly. And, you're happy to see them. I felt that they were just like me, doing a days work for honest wage, and looking for a little piece and quiet before heading home to the bratling and significant bother. I almost offered to buy them drinks.
They talked briefly with Tarrin, who was working the counter, and then laughed.
A moment later ... they were standing beside Harrik Stein. You know the tanner on Ply Street. He stood up... and then his throat was pierced through with a dagger. Down he fell onto the table.
And the two of them turned back to the whole room ... all of us, and they were back beautiful, scary and beyond. The human said coldly, "Her Will has been done." The Elf placed 15 gold Realm coins on the table. "She expresses Her sadness for this inconvenience to your evening. Please accept a coin for your distress."
And then they were gone.
Just left.
No one touched those coins all night. Not until they left. And I swear the room was colder then normal for the rest of the evening."
