March 5th

After rescuing several people from enslavement and sending them on their way, you awoke outside the plantation in which they were held then made your way back to Goxim. Once you returned to the secret hideout in the Greasy Night Inn, Javier explained to you the various factions and groups vying for power on Ilvortia. When he finished his brief instructions, he tasked you to go out and find a crew for the ship you were about to "procure". On your way to the Old Mustache, a bar frequented by sailors put out of work by the Iron Dominion, Spoonples was accosted by some guards who had given him a hard time the previous day. Springing into action, Liliana escorted Spoonples down an alleyway and cast invisible on the goblin. Then Trip used Command and some smooth talking to confuse the guards. The rest of the party pretended they didn't know the unfortunate goblin and continued on their way.   Once at the Old Mustache, Spoomples remained invisible while Amillina talked to Vuttu, the tavern barkeep, to get an understanding of which patrons of the bar needed a job. Nakoma watched Amillina's back while Syx and Trip took up positions to watch the bar. Amillina psychically sent instructions to Liliana on which patron to speak to, while the invisible Spoomples secretly searched each candidate.   Lilliana ended up hiring the Tortle Gunney as first mate, the human Beorth as the cook, the elf Ruth as quartermaster, and the Goblin Glom as a surgeon. With a crew selected, Lilliana went off with Ruth to Yawning Shark supply store to get ship supplies, Trip and Spoomples went down to the docks, Nakoma and Amillina went to collect Javier, and Syx stayed in the tavern for a few more moments to hear some rumors.   The group reunited outside the Snowport impound docks with Javier delightfully ready to get their journey started. You showed the dockmaster the required paperwork and headed down to the only ship still in impound. It was a dilapidated barely sea-worthy frigate, but Javier loves it. He jumps up on one of the rails and gleefully cheers along the tortle and aqualish crew as they load the supplies on board.   Everything was going beautifully until you hear a shot and see Javier clutching a bloodied stomach. He falls into the water and out of sight. The shooter an austere-looking Teifling by the name of Grand Admiral Prawn, demands you returned his property, the skull key, and the encrypted journal. As you debated on the right way to proceed, Prawn grew tired of your deliberations. He held up what seemed to be the head of a trident and summoned a juvenile Kraken to attack you. You all valiantly try to fight off the giant squid but it was too powerful for you. Fortunately, within a few moments, the crew of the ship was able to quickly finish their preparations and cast off, sailing away and leaving the Admiral, the Kraken, and Goxim behind.
