Alamaric Behrgahn
Alamaric is a wizened old man known for assisting The Greater Restorers with difficult or dangerous callings. Despite his age, he often fights besides them in battle, or speaks to others on their behalf.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Alamaric is surprisingly youthful in some aspects, but not all of them. While he remains shockingly limber, his mind is no longer as sharp, and his eyesight has completely deteriorated.
However, while he is often at first mistaken as a withered old man, those who come to speak to him face to face may find themselves intimidated by his strength of character and towering physique.
His pace is also swift, if quiet, and while he never seems to show signs of haste and panic, it can be easy to lose his location during life's darker and busier moments.
Facial Features
Alamaric is blind, though, one might not notice at a distance. While he occasionally uses a walking stick to manage travel, he moves with both a speed and confidence that does not suggest sightlessness.
Special abilities
A persistent observer would decide that some of Alamaric's physical ability is more than surprisingly good shape. Some of his ability is entirely unexplainable, as he is occasionally seen punching rock-hard creatures successfully without signs of pain.
He attributes some of these behaviors to confidence, intention, and singleness of vision, but dedication does not explain the occasional sightings of an angel's wings carrying him to safety, or the hazy multitudes of arms seen to strike his foes during meditations at times of danger.
His decision to occasionally wield the bow and arrow, in the pitch of battle, considering his hardship, is questionable, but admirable, that he ever hits a target at all could suggest unseen gifts. From an objective standpoint, however, his accuracy is hardly impressive.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Alamaric was originally born in the City of Roses to a Mettenese family, though, tragedy led to the death of his parents, and his steward returned to Mettenheim, where he raised Alamaric as his own.
As an adult, Alamaric practiced civil law, working independently to mediate trade disputes, draw contracts, and settle taxes, for several large trading companies during Mettenheim's second century trade boom. As a valuable asset to both the local mines and artisans, along with the maritime import/exporters, he quickly became obscenely rich, using his wealth to gain status, negotiate affairs of state with the aristocracy, and eventually run for office.
He served many consecutive terms in civil and judicial positions, litigating and executing complex zoning and property law, regulating trade and commerce through license reform, and allocating government spending and taxation.
His familiarity with the law systems, many of which he helped create, made him an ideal candidate for investigative work, where he would allocate his case workers to detect, locate, and eventually bust fraud, cartels, and corrupt officials, looking to take advantage of Mettenheim's lucrative cash-flow, illegally.
Since he had both a shrewd mind for business and interrogation, along with a physically commanding stature, he would often confirm these wrong-doings, or lead the raids and question the captured, personally.
In his twilight years, Alamaric avoided retirement, refusing to believe the work that needed to be done would be done without him. However, in his eighties, he began to lose his quick memory, and his eyesight. At first, as the world dimmed around him, his assistants would help him with any difficulty reading, or would pen correspondence for him. This was grossly inefficient, however, and his work began to be reassigned to other officials as the rumors of his enfeeblement grew. Shortly after he failed re-election, the city declared him to be a danger to his estate, and formally notified him that his assets would be seized and auctioned unless he hired a personal caretaker. He refused, on principle, and instead of allowing the auction, quickly donated his estate to the Church of Harmony. After several uncharacteristic losses of temper, he admitted himself to a refugean abbey, determined to eschew himself of material and responsibility, for the sake of his remaining tranquility. He lost the last of his sight during monastery life, however, it was not the disappointment he expected, and his new detachments and anonymity gave him a joy and curiosity he had not expected to ever be rekindled. After nearly a decade of cloistered livelihood, he left the abbey, and Mettenheim, to take a very long holiday excursion.

Mental Trauma
Alamaric is almost entirely well-meaning, and was known for his desire to find a solution that benefits all parties involved. He looks for the good in all, and is always quick to help, however, he has always had difficulty coping with failure.
When disappointed, he can grow impatient, and when confronted with malevolence, his anger is quickly seen on his face and heard in his voice.
Intellectual Characteristics
Alamaric has become a quieter person, preferring to listen to others as they solve their problems, stepping in if he anticipates high risks with dire consequences.
Despite this, he always listens, monitors, and analyzes the speech and behavior of those around him, comparing his own past mistakes with the issues at hand.
When asked of his ambitions or desires, Alamaric will most often suggest that he is happy to be part of something more than himself.
Morality & Philosophy
Alamaric considers himself to be a Harmonist, and strives to untangle discord and interference. In his retirement, he prefers to stay out of the way, avoiding making changes or taking resources, unless it is for the safety and prosperity of others.
Personality Characteristics
Personality Quirks
On many of his solitary meditations, while those around him find rest and relaxation, he could be discovered practicing archery, a hobby he acquired at the monastery, and considers a form of meditation.
In spite of his handicap, he continues to refine a semblance of marksmanship through careful discipline and mindfulness. He is rarely pushed to use the weapon in battle, however, but not because of his blindness, but because he avoids causing lethal damage to sentient life when avoidable.
However, in conflict with pure evil and the supernatural, sufficient force of all varieties, bow and arrow included, is warranted.
Social
Religious Views
Despite the popularity of the new Pantheon, Alamaric's religious preferences have always been for the venerated goddess Harmony, for whom he attributes all of his efforts in past life and present, and his time in dedication to her church affords him the privilege of her blessings.
Wealth & Financial state
Alamaric refuses to accept payment, and does not keep a standing collection of money or treasure. Besides a backpack of rations, water-skin, and a few simple tools, he does not carry any items of value, with exception to a magical short bow he requested purchase of, recently, to replace the bow he donated to someone in need.
