Alaric von Bruahaha

Current Month: Julwar 2nd: 209, The Fifth Age
Alaric von Bruahaha is a legendary figure in Mettenheim folklore; the father of Mettenese independence, he is often centered at all tales referring to the peninsulas emancipation.   Apperance   He was an awesomely huge man with a bigger buster sword and a vigorous appetite for beer.   History   Alaric was the leader of the Mettenese Rebellion in the Fourth Age by recruiting minor nobles and village militias. He wanted the best for the people he grew with, which were being abused by the lords in the home island of Reik. He was known for speaking three particular speeches when addressing crowds: “We are taking back the land for the people!!”, the other two are related to his main hobby, drinking ale.   He was eventually captured by the Hegemony of the Riek, and was quartered, his segmented corpse being distributed to the far corners of Metteneheim as a warning against further rebellion.   This only caused the people to fight harder and fiercer, and within a year of rebellion, the mainland colonies on Midway followed suit. Through these combined efforts, their independence was won.   It is speculated that the various regional drinking holidays found in Mettenheim were originally started by Alaric's legendary drinking contests when he toured mettenese villaged.
