Frost

Frost has always been the capital of the Senderians. Originally a small river village known as Posabetz, it is the largest and most heavily fortified city within Senderfall, earning the nickname the Bastion of the West. It has grown to be the beating heart of the Sendar Steppes.

Defences

The massive walls of Frost dominate the surrounding countryside. Machicolations have been cunningly wrought within the decorative gargoyles at the wall head, and smoke lazily curls from braziers prepared on the ramparts. The precise construction of the protruding towers and gatehouse ensure that every yard of rocky ground before the walls is a killing zone, covered by crossbows and cannon fire.   A cobbled roadway winds up the Hill of the Valiant, to a wide bridge that crosses a deep ditch and leads to a stubbed timber gate banded with black iron and protected by murder holes in the stone roof. Such fortifications are at least the equal of Valois or Refuge, yet unlike other cities, Frost's walls have a smooth, glossy look to them, as though the stone had vitrified under some intense heat.

Infrastructure

Outside the walls newer wooden buildings are constructed, slowly branching outward and hugging the roads southward and the River Lysk. The area inside the walls of the city is filled with the old buildings, packed haphazardly into tight, winding streets that all too often lead nowhere.

Geography

The city is located on the banks of the river Lysk, a tributary of the Tyrssik. Due to its position, it is near the border with the New Melentine Empire, and many Imperial customs and aesthetic values have influenced Senderian life, literature and architecture.
