History

Lazare Day is a day to celebrate new love and a continuation of the old. Venerating the diety Lazare, one of the few surviving Creators of the previous ages, it is always celebrated Febwar 11th.

Execution

It is usually celebrated by the local populace creating a large bonfire, where the young would gather. it is girls choice on this special day, wearing their finest dresses. They present their chosen boy with a basket of breads and cheeses, and should the boy accept, both will dance around the bonfire before the Lazare Day feast.   During the dancing around the Bonfire, a tradtional Lazare Day song is played. Though there are different songs for different regions, the Western Dales uses the Old Stannistas Hyme for their celebrations.

Components and tools

A popular game played on Lazare day is called Honeycomb. Each participant is given a circular-shaped piece of sugar honeycomb, with the shape of a heart in the middle.   Each player is instructed to cut out the heart with a sharp implement, without cracking or breaking the sugar honeycomb. Winners usually win some sort of confection.

Observance

There are different variations and names for this holiday around the world, but despite the differences, all involve the growing of new love on Febwar the 11th.
