Sundered

Second day, in glee, they kill those that flee...
Third day we wait, and fear for our fate...
Fourth day they return, and it's another girls turn...

Sixth day we hated, as she is devastated...
Seventh day she yearned, for in her heart she burned...
Eighth day she grins, as she mutates her kin.
Now she does wonder... when did she become Sundered?"
Darkness in form, Ruin en masse, servants of the Nongod, and the cause of both the First and Second Fall, Sundered are considered evil incarnate, though this would be inaccurate. Sundered in of themselves aren't evil, but rather a force of nature. They devour worlds without thought or emotion, and once the planet is laid to waste, they move onto the next world in an unending cleansing. Traveling in their true forms in the vast void between the stars in a great mass known as Ruin, the physical interpretation known to the civilized is only a shadow of their true power, becoming lessened within the confines of atmosphere.
Sundered do not naturally reproduce. Instead, they corrupt. When they conquer a world, they take the female inhabitance and slowly over the course of days corrupt them. During those times, the victims skin blackened into obsidian, their teeth and hair fall out, their bones dissolve, and their eyes and mouths begin to glow blue, until at last they emerge as a sundered. A victims age and power in magic also determines what kind of sundered they become.
Males are also taken to be mutated, however, these do not become Sundered, instead, they enlarge, their skin decays and breaks open with sundered shards, and begin to take on a zombie like appearance, finally becoming a Taken. it is theorized that Taken are merely an energy source and canon fodder used by the Sundered, as in the beginning of the Second Fall, Taken weren't seen.
Sunderlings - dog sized sundered, formed from adolescent females Sundered - Taken from Adult Females Sundered Primes - Taken from Elderly Females Sundered Matriarchs - Taken from females strong in magic Sundered-Clasts - A Ratking created from many Sundered into one massive form. Sundered Drakes - Rumored to be female dragons that managed to be captured by the Sundered Taken - mutated from Male Captives.
