Ainu Dominion
So named for the people of the Ainu, the major river that runs through the entire region. Said to have been created by Saint Yue Lon during the Age of Saints, much of the population lives not far from the banks of the life giving waters of the Ainu river.
Self titled as the Jewel of Makan, the Ainu Dominion is a collection of prefectures each ruled by a shogun. Each prefecture swears fealty to the Dominu, the centralized ruler of the kingdom. Ainu is a nation constantly at war. When a Dominu appears weak, or loses favor with the shoguns that once swore their loyalty to them, they risk an uprising, a coup d'etat.
Every shogun rules over their own domain and constantly seeks to further the breadth of their control. This comes to a boiling point when after a period of time or gathering allies and growing the bounds of their borders, he feels that he should be the next Dominu. Inevitably, war is waged and the victor, either through fear or respect, gains the approval of their fellow shogun.
