Countries like Shareni and Hafn might describe Betony as lawless and wild. Countries like Shareni and Hafn might also have been inclined to invade Betony if they thought occupying a country that would describe itself as radical, free-thinking and yes, wild would be worthwhile.
Other members of the Caldaraan Confederation are frankly amazed that enough Betons agreed on who to make up their delegation that those delegates have significantly more leeway than other, more stable countries.
