Josefine Sannin (a.k.a. Jo)
Jo was a spacer kid who was too smart for her own good. She was raised on a Holtanese orbital colony to a working family responsible for some of the dirty work needed to keep those stations running. Even the rich need to eat and shit and someone has to cook the food and unclog the pipes after. She started working as soon as she was old enough ( some sort of harder team-based work, dockworker maybe?). Growing up working hard to make end meet while being surrounded by wealth filled her with a zeal for equity or maybe it was just hatred/jealousy for the wasteful rich.
Even as she worked hard at her jobs, she worked harder in school. Her cleverness got her a scholarship at a decent school on Holtan where she studied law and politics though she still had to maintain a job all throughout. She got herself into nearly every possible political rally and march for the rights of workers and the underrepresented and while she often ended up on the opposing side of the law, she always managed to stay out of anything more serious than a couple one-night stays in jail. Was this through keeping her nose clean, excellent situational awareness, sneaking out before things went bad or throwing her comrades under the bus? She’s not telling.
After graduating, Jo attached herself to activist groups. She interned for sitting senators and slowly ingratiated herself to the powers within the Ju’ri, learning to politic with the best of them. Even as she aged and grew more influential, she never forgot where she came from and never let anyone else forget it either. When she finally ran for office herself, she framed herself as ‘a voice for the common people,’ speaking the realities of the working class to the out of touch ruling class. She was the candidate who had worked the hard jobs and the one ‘you could get a beer with.’ Several successful election cycles later, she was President/Prime Minister/Whatever-we’re-going-with, running on populist promises of greater rights for the marginalized and making the wealthy and powerful finally pay their dues to society and the people who really make the Ju’Ad system run.

It's still early days in my term and the first major event is this celebration of the Union. I think it will be a fine opportunity to show off a little. I'll have Michiko Heer lead a team from Jemeye to coordinate with the other participants. I am leaning towards hosting a tournament on Skorrio (for safety, obviously) and broadcasting it to the celebrants in Caldaraa in a grand viewing party and to anyone else of the Ju'Ad system that wants to watch. Skorrio will of course host, Pisco can assist in making a grand production out of it, Libre to report (might allow them the more privileged interviews) though foreign reporters will be welcome, and of course Jemeye to coordinate with those foreign participants and journalists.
On more practical matters, I need to finally get that broad report on international affairs. Domestic as well but that is less immediately pressing with this upcoming celebration. I will have to get all of my relevant advisors on it.
