The Aeon Parish
In truth, the parish is a small set of buildings inside a 10 foot wall of pale stone. The entire structure seems of one piece, owed to the cypher used by the original priests in constructing the parish. Over the decades, the parish has become an important part of Saler Thaer. It provides healing services, assistance in farming, simple cyphers, as well as free education for any villagers who wish it.
While it only currently holds three priests, the parish has enough rooms to house a dozen members and many more people in need.
Purpose / Function
It serves as housing for the Aeon Priests of Saler Thaer, as well as their crafting area and research depository. The open front acts as the store from which the priests sell healing items and occasional oddities, while the yard behind is where members of the community attend educational sessions upon request.
Architecture
Created by cyphers used by the early settling priests, the stone of the parish is uniform. There are no seams, bricks or imperfections throughout the structure. While much of the parish is plain gray stone, the arches over the doorways are adorned with the Aeon sigil and several of the interior rooms have twisting designs as bas reliefs. It is the only building unpainted, not for sentimentality, but due to the stone's inability to hold any paint. Colors run right down to the ground, dyeing the grass instead.
History
When the first Aeon Priest came to Saler Thaer over 80 years ago, she set down several instruments that created the parish overnight. The priest, a middle-aged woman named Dariel, immediately began working to integrate herself into the community. Her resources as a member of the Aeon Priesthood benefited Saler Thaer, which did much to prove Dariel's worth.
The most recent generation saw the parish housing a small collection of Aeon Priests from over the mountains and villagers from Saler Thaer. Unfortunately, the disease that struck Saler Thaer took the lives of nearly all of these new priests--including an elderly Dariel. Since then, the newest priest has had a hard time recruiting villagers into the priesthood, though Saler Thaer does not outright blame the priesthood for the disease.
