Aelham

The town of Alhem grew up around a large freshwater lake. Finding freshwater in Selatres is very hard to do as most bodies of water inland are either muddy or salty. The town is lucky to have that lake because clay is in abundance there along with freshwater fish. Because of the freshwater fish, Aelham is known for its traditional cuisine. Chefs special order fish from the lake to try with new recipes. The town is ruled by an elected mayor every four years. The current mayor, Sorak Clawpike, is a rather strict mayor who makes sure no one tries to scam or steal from the beneficial lake they have there. Aelham experienced territorial wars in the infancy of the town. Trolls and Merrow infested the land, sea and lake. The battle went swiftley as an order of holy knights were on Alhems side. That same order of knights is still there to this day. The laws in Aelham are simple and easy enough to follow. Mayor Sorak is quick to punish those who don't follow them, so the people here respect the laws. While Sorak has a lot of power he is indebted to the captain of the knight order, so anything Sorak says and does come from the mouth of the captain. The first thing one would see is the church build by the holy knights in order to worship and live. Rampart street is the road you want to be on in Selatres to get here.

Mostly humans inhabit this town with a little dragonborn and Triton population as well.

The holy knight order has the ear of every politician here.

Watchtower lined with the holy knght order keeps Aelham safe and secure.

Industry & Trade

Freshwater fish is the biggest draw to Aelham. Along with magically enchated fishing gear.

The church as well as several watchtowers have been built by the kight order to keep Aelham safe.

Aelham is more of a general town. You can almost find anything you need here, magical or not. Common and uncommon items can easily be purchased here as well as some exclusive tools.

History

About 100 years ago when Aelham we first found the lake was full of Merrow. Half fish half humaniod creatures who were living in the lake. Trolls also lived alongside them trading tools for fish. When the lake was discovered humans started to over fish the lake for their own gain. Naturally the Merrow and Trolls were furious and a fight ensued. The Merrow and Trolls lost, giving up the lake and land to the humans.

Tourism

Chefs, cooks, and occasionally powerful politicians make there way to Aelham for the delicious traditional cuisine.

Architecture

The architecture here is rather nice compared to most towns in Selatres. Even though this is a fishing and farming town mainly, it isn't near the sea. Buildings are wooden with stone foundations, modern compared to other fishing towns. Similar to the houses and buildings you would find in the capital.

Geography

For the most part surrounded by plains and a small woods with some mountains. The giant lake has a small stream coming from the mountains feeding it. It is very well versed in what is around them.
