A kleptomaniac with the skills to back it up, Maisie is the epitome of a Ravnos: untrustworthy with smoke screens upon smoke screens to obfuscate her true intentions.

Maisie dresses casually in bright colors with dark underclothes - if she's ever in a tight spot, the bright outer layers are discarded so she can slip away quietly into the night. Her hair upon the time of her Embrace was quite long, and so every night she shaves it back down to her recognizably short cut.

Personal history

Born Marjorie Romano on March 15th, 1927, Maisie was the third child in a large Italian-American family.
Her mother was an Italian immigrant straight from Pisa, Italy, who barely spoke a word of English when she immigrated to the States. Her father was the owner of a local boutique who had learned Italian working as the assistant for an Italian fashion designer before leaving to found his own boutique. Maisie would be hard pressed to say whether her parents married each other because they were the only ones who truly understood each other or in spite of it. Every threat of divorce was 'resolved' by having another baby. There were seven of them before the two finally divorced.
Despite the war that defined most of her living life, Maisie was never much interested in protesting with her peers. She had her own issues to deal with.
Her mother left the family high and dry to go back to Italy and her father's business was struggling as he tried both to parent and earn a living to provide for his children.
So Maisie took on what she could as a cleaner. Working for the rich pions of her city for scraps. But that wouldn't be enough to help them out of the hole.
When she saw that her masters didn't ever notice a little cash here or there going missing, she upped her game. Taking antiques and art, stowing them in her laundry basket and then selling them to a fence or another rich upstart who was more than willing to pay for the satisfaction of knowing that they had this artwork in their possession now.
Of course, the high life couldn't last, and Maisie was caught. Sentenced to pay back all she stole - millions of dollars at this point. But a nighttime visitor came to her cell. Promised that everything would be paid, she would be off scot free... only if she pledged to work for him.
Maisie accepted, not having much of a choice. He gave her some of his blood and they were off. Maisie was a masterful ghoul to the Ravnos Ozul Bessett for many years before he was finally given the permission to embrace her. During this time is when she started going by Maisie Brigand. Ozul chortled at the idea of a thief with such a surname (and to be honest, Maisie likes it too).
For many years, she remained under his employ, and they are still on good terms - however both of them agreed that they were growing far too comfortable with one another and both needed to move on to better horizons.

Maisie has an informant within the organization of FIRSTLIGHT, an offshoot of the Second Inquisition. She's also used to weaving in and out of their ranks, sowing confusion and anarchy wherever she goes.
