The Ocasta have access to all normal 5th Edition Blood Sorcery rituals. They may also Ward as per normal V5 rules. The only differences come in terms of narrative. The Ocasta use Cherokee ritual as opposed to Tremere rote. They dance, they chant, they meditate. But mechanically speaking, the Ocasta may use any normal V5 Blood Sorcery ritual. They have a few unique rituals, and they are as follows:
Level 1
Summon the Spirits
Cost: 1 Rouse
Ocasta have always been tied to the Galun’lati, beyond the Stone Arch, as have all the Cherokee. They may call out to the spirits of that place, and ask them to come and commune with them. The Ocasta must draw a circle in their blood, and then meditate within it for one hour. What exactly appears is up to the Storyteller. But some type, or multiple types, of spirit will arrive. Once they arrive, the Ocasta may converse with them. The spirits must leave when the Ocasta banishes them, but this ends the ritual.
Level 4
Water of the First Sea
Cost: 2 Rouse
The Cherokee have always been tied to water, and this holds true today even for the Ocasta. If the Ocasta adds a bit of blood to water, they can transform it into a door that they may pass through. They must add their blood, then meditate before the body of water, chanting for a number of hours equal to their Blood Potency. Upon completion, the body of water becomes a portal to any other one place on Earth.
Level 5
Passage to Galun’lati
Cost: 2 Rouse
Ocasta are tied to Galun’lati through their distant relation to Selu, the First Woman and Kanati, the First Man. They can still pass over to this place, with preparation and ritual. The Ocasta must prepare a fire of cedar and pine. They must dance around the fire, chanting the traditional prayers of their people. They must add their Blood to the flame when it is at its height, and then continue to dance and chant. Then roll Dex + Ocasta Sorc vs Gauntlet Rating. The Ocasta will Step Sideways in the moment just before sunrise if the roll succeeds. They may step back to the real world at any time by rolling Dex + Ocasta Sorc vs Gauntlet Rating.
River of Time
Cost: 2 Rouse
Ocasta used to be infamous for being able to peer into the currents of Time. However, their long struggle with the Uktena cost them this power. The Ocasta and Uktena fought a terrible war, hunting down those who could perform this ritual. The Uktena even slew Owl, the methuselah progenitor of the Owl Ocastsa, in a battle in the Umbra that lasted twelve days and nights. The Wolves then performed a ritual to prevent the Ocasta from ever gaining this power again. For long eons this ritual was but a myth among the Ocasta. Recently, however, something has changed. Perhaps the Uktena’s Rite has faded, or perhaps someone has found a way to break it. Regardless, there have been rumors of Ocasta attempting the ritual, and actually getting results.
To perform the ritual the Ocasta must wade out into a flowing river. They must submerge themselves completely underwater, and then slice open their chest, allowing their vitae to flow out into the stream. Then, the Ocasta must swirl the water and blood together in front of themselves, while reaching out to Galun’lati through their vitae. They must remain there for a number of hours equal to their Blood Potency, peering into the swirling mix of blood and water. Once this has been done, roll Intel + Ocasta Sorc vs 5.
On a success, the Ocasta receives a vision of the future. This is not like Premonition; it is not couched in metaphor, or symbolism. The ST must answer honestly one question about what comes next in the Chronicle, with no hidden meanings or couched references. The ST must answer one story question honestly upon successful completion of this ritual.
