The Calamity
The Calamity was a horrific, catastrophic event that took place across the entire year of 2999. Strange creatures not native to Barahn-Duhr arrived in the east, and razed the continent to the ground. The slaughter culminated in the near-annihilation of all humanoid life on Barahn-Duhr, and it set civilization hundreds -- if not thousands -- of years.
Background
Little is known about the Calamity, and the events that led up to it. The testimonies of survivors varied wildly between regions and frequently contradicted each other, making it nearly impossible to piece together a cohesive timeline. The only thing that remained consistent was the description of the Calamity's aggressors: a force of strange, foreign beings who emitted a golden glow.Pre-Calamity & Inciting Incident
It is widely believed that the Fey were responsible for bringing the invading creatures. Since the sudden appearance of Amanduin in 1067, the Fey had dedicated themselves to researching inter-planar and inter-dimensional travel in the hopes that they would find a way back to the Fey Wild. In doing so, they constructed several gates, which are believed to have been used by the invaders to gain access to Barahn-Duhr.Aftermath
